Flags all twirling in the air,
the bold, bright colors add some flair.
Our poles are shiny, black or white,
give a push, get some height.
Screaming numbers, counting out loud,
we love to make our high school proud.
But I remember my freshman year,
when tossing a single was my biggest fear.
When walking and spinning is tons of fun,
don't be surprised when asked to "strip and run!"
When band music begins to sound good,
and when you can hardly tell a tape-covered rifle is actually wood.
Inside my head, the show music repeats,
during school, after school, I tap my pencil to the beat.
I get so excited with a new season to start,
to learn the fresh choreography and drill, the two things that warm my heart.
But colorguard is not just a state of mind,
it's a way of life and a sport combined.
Colorguard is also my anti-drug, believe or not it's true,
when I'm out there only I exist, there's nothing I can't do.

Marching Band
The day we met I was pretty quiet
And all I could dream were your lips to kiss
You and I proved to be quite a riot
Those long days at band I will surely miss
The days made easy from the shade of trees
Those summer days in the middle of June
We were so thankful for a simple breeze
Sent home once our only light was the moon
Joining marching band was a dream of mine
I never knew it would take me this far
Out on the field, I feel like I can shine
As the strums fill my ears from the guitar
Of all the things marching band included
We made a family, I concluded

Marching Band
Let me tell you, I know Hell. Hell is a place of unbearable heat, where hopeless souls are forced into meaningless labor, in this particular case, walk around in bizarre patterns while playing instruments. In case you haven't guessed, I'm talking about High School Marching Band. I had been absolutely apposed to the idea of marching band, because it wasn't required for my level of band. Additionally I really sucked at playing Clarinet when I was sitting still, despite my seven years of it prior. Unfortunately for me, my parents were dead set on making me go. Now as anyone who has ever been a kid before, knows about the Parental Override

This first started out as a Limerick for my English class, but then I got so into it and continued to write and add to it. All my friends in colorguard adore it, and I might even add more to it later. :3 I'm sure there's TONS more sentences about guard I could add. ^^ Enjoy! Comments are appreciated. :33

This is amazing! I am starting my very first band camp this year, so the lines, "But I remember my freshman year, when tossing a single was my biggest fear" means so much to me.
